Kiichiro Toyoda founded the company, and people believe that the original company name was also Toyoda. Designers changed the name to Toyota when they realized that it was easier to write than the original name. It takes less time to write a “t” than a “d” by hand. People believe that the name change reflected ease and simplicity.

Toyota first came to the US back in the 1950’s

During the 1950’s, Toyota cars became popular in the US. Over the course of around ten years, loads of cars came to the states and gained popularity fast. At the time, the sleek style of car was in fashion, and many businessmen bought the cars.

The company employs over 300,000 people in the US

Despite the company being Japanese, it has a huge economic stake in the US. The company now employs around 360,000 employees in America. Again, you might think that Japan would sell the most Toyotas, but it is not the case. In fact, over 70% of Toyota vehicles go to the US every year. The UK is not far behind either. The fact that so many people in the US adore the car may be because it is a luxury vehicle. You might not imagine that global superstar Will.i.am would ever work with a car company, but he has. This year the singer has teamed up with Toyota for an interesting advertising campaign. The advert first went live on YouTube and later on television. Toyota started the campaign earlier this year, and it has had a wonderful response. As part of the campaign, Will.i.m also designed a limited edition Lexus NX. There was an exclusive launch event for the car in Paris last September. Unfortunately, Toyota will not be selling the car to the general public. The vehicle included external cameras, new alloys, and an interesting interior design.

The company also makes textile items
